A few days ago, we celebrated my little sister’s 30th birthday in our hometown with my folks. The day was so gorgeous, and that night the world was treated to a blue moon. I joked during dinner that it was Gawd’s birthday gift to her. My parents didn’t really like that because 1. I’m an atheist and 2. they’re Jehovah’s Witnesses. Jehovah’s Witnesses don’t celebrate birthdays, so we carefully word each of our birthdays as “The Anniversary of Mom’s Really Bad Stomach Ache.” But we all know what we really mean. 😉
We don’t expect gifts from our parents, but 30 is a pretty big deal. So, Jesse, my folks, and I got Cat the iconic Tiffany Elsa Peretti heart necklace. It has a lot of meaning, not only because this is her big 3-0, but because she’s also two-time heart surgery survivor.
Happy birthday, sis!!
